Hey all.

Thought I'd introduce myself.

Name's Matt. 21 year old and used to ride a Hornet 6. First big bike and I fell in love with it.

Unfortunately 2 years ago I tried to pole vault on my Hornet. Didn't work out so well! I'm a member on BCF (with the same name) and here's the topic from when I posted it if anyone fancies a read/story.

So ever since then I've been trying to get the Hornet back on the road.

When I got the use of my arms back (ended up with both arms in casts, one doing a thumbs up 24/7! Haha!) I started riding again but on my friend NC30 with his permission. He didn't have a licence but once he did he'd have the bike back obviously. Well that never happened and he's now selling the bike and never bothered with his licence after 1 attempt.. And I thought while riding his bike I could get working on mine. How wrong was I!

I ended up spending so much money keeping the NC30 roadworthy (as I was riding it) and ended up buying new C+S, clutch, brakes, brake lines, exhaust and lots of other stuff. I'm pretty certain I've spent more money on that bike than mine :|

The Hornet is currently completely stripped to parts. Had a few bits done and dusted but lack a few tools and money to do anything. I've only just been able to get a job after quite some time so I'll be able to start working on the Hornet again!

At first I thought I was gonna go for a white pearlescent body with satin gold wheels and a few other bits. But I think I'll be sticking to how my bike looked, but change a few things.

Here's my Hornet in question. T reg. Loved it to bits. Quite literally!

The day before I spent 8 hours cleaning, claying, waxing and polishing the bike. I think I did a reasonable job. Could do better though.

The only thing I changed to the bike after that was adding twin dominator lights which I loved and improved visibility no end, but I'd love to have a flatter style headlight. Sort of to go in the same line as the forks, rather than sticking out.

Much love people, looking forward to being a proper user of this site in times to come and hopefully be able to attend a proper Hornet rideout :D

Being brutally honest, i would just save and buy another Hornet, as for all you know the whole frame could be bent. Then part out anything you can, you'll find someone on here will want the part :P

Also make your friend sell you the Hornet, or pay you back for all the parts you've put on it, then atleast you have a working bike while you work on the hornet/save up.

Frame is fine. The bike is stripped so I've checked the frame myself and got 2 different garages to check it. They both said it was fine.

There was one bit that need "bending" and we did bend it. The bit that was "bent" only holds the tail unit and nothing else so I don't have to worry about it holding any weight since the tail unit weighs next to nothing in terms of bike weight.

I already have a new engine for it, from a '02 bike that did less than 15k miles. Got it for £125. I love Egay bargains!

Friend sell me the Hornet? Erm His NC30 I assume? And Nah, I'd rather get a different bike as it's got even more problem which is why I haven't ridden in about 7-8 months :(

I'm not gonna ask him to pay me back for the parts because I was practically loaning the bike off him and putting loads of miles on it (it was my only way of commuting to and from work and other stuff). I did agree with him that since he's lending me the bike It' sort out all the niggles for him and get it awesome and sparkly clean, like I did to my Hornet before the crash. Only fair since I did have it for a year and a half!

Currently stuck in a cage. But it has the benefit of being a 7 seater

I can pretty much put the bike back together. I'm just being anal (and lazy) and want to polish the swingarm and other bits. I might buy a cheap hack at some point, but it depends on money and the job.

I did have the twin dominators and they did give better light. Wider spread and brighter.

Maybe it was the bulb on the old lamp? But I certainly did notice a difference and so did my friends.

Meh. I've always toy'd with the idea of fitting a CB1000R headlight...

Yeah I did mean NC30... :P and if you had an agreement, that's fair enough.

And I know what you mean by anal, I'm not putting anything even slightly rusty back on mine ;)

I was wondering if you'd ever get yer arse over onto here - I've followed your Hornet thread on BCF (scary place that it is for the innocent like me :angel )

Your bike was lovely before the accident (I'm in love with the colour of your wheels) so hopefully you can gte it back to rights soon.

God I haven't updated that in absolute ages. Will do so when I actually get a chance. Same username on BCF?

I still need an 03 undertray and sidepanels...

first person that has said they were better that i know of!! i got rid of mine coz they were sh1t!
even with upgraded bulbs, the light pattern was too spread to give good lighting in any one place,
they were very good at spreading the light every where but where you need it.
but could just be that i am a blind old fart :angel
