be carefull on that one steve,

dVI maybe the same signal as HDMI yes , however dVI doesn't have/cant carry sound or mandate HDCP

So you need seperate sound o/p

But more importantly , you could setup a bluray player via dVI but you wont get a picture due to no mandate HDCP 8o

Just bought an Antec media case for my media pc which lives under the telly.

Threw a new mobo and processor in the old case with a hooky copy of win 7 ultimate to use to do work on and bought a 22" digimate for £77 from Dabs. Bigger is definitely better :D

Not sure about these macs, very pretty but to do what I've just done for a couple of hundred quid would have probably broke the bank

Mac's vs PC's = Horses for courses.

Depends what suits your needs IMHO, I'm a photographer by trade (and hobby) and have always been told that a Mac is de facto, but after building and customising PC's for 10 years I know what I prefer!

I think its hard to change when you get used to one of them, I don't hate Mac's but I have beef with user's who think they are the alpha and omega of computing, and talk to me about them like they are a sales rep "But they just...work"

As a die hard Mac fan, gotta say that Windows 7 is actually very good (hate those 'I am PC' ads though) and run Win7 on my Mac to watch bluray movies on a 24" LED Apple Cinema Display (yes still managed to keep this post on topic - just about).

Common sense prevails

I kind of hate these slanging matches about Mac vs PC

Ever since Apple moved from IBM/Motorola to intel chips it hardly matters anymore - you can run Windows on a Mac

You can build a PC with similar specs to an intel Mac or buy a Netbook that is capable of running Mac OS X:
http://www.mymacnetbook.com/compatibility-chart/

The PC platform is great for hobbyists and homebuilders as they are mostly upgradeable beyond just RAM and HDD's
They can be PITA when bits do not work with each other although Windows these days has helped make it less so.

A Mac is a 'closed box' that discourages you from meddling in the name of ease of use.
That said, Mac OS X is so similar to Windows these days that the difference comes down to personal preference and software availability.
Were it not for the Halo effect driven by iPad, iPhone and iPod hype, the Mac would still be the computer for designers and creative types that 'Joe public' would be blissfully unaware of.

Horses for courses...
