got a hp 1660

colour cart is fine black and white is low but ok for now

come to print some text using wordpad - pasted it in and print and nowt

tried a test page - no prob - colours came through even tho its set to black and white.....

tried notepad and got same thing

pasted my text in here and post message and will print no problem

any ideas why it shits itself if you use word or notepad???

I've come across this before.

Firstly are you using XP?

If I recall correctly you need to make the printer your default printer even if you select it when you print the job.

Failing that update the driver which is located here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3811075

In addition you might want to try changing the colour of your text to blue, even though it prints the test page in B&W this will rule out a comms/driver error if it prints in say blue.
