Thursday the YSS shock arrived.... and it's fecking BLACK ! :Bang

Image

When purchasing i requested they fit a spring suitable for my 'all geared up weight' presuming another YSS RED spring would be fitted (I've seen YSS springs listed separately)

But no... they fitted one of their own branded springs and to add insult to injury the brand name will be displayed upside down when the shock is fitted !!!! :blast

Image

Anyway... displeased i contacted them and they kindly offered to powder coat the spring RED free of charge if i return the shock. (Powder coating is one of their services) One of the reasons i went with YSS (Like i explained to them) was due to it having a RED spring... and also because of the rebound hand dial as apposed to
Hagon's Allen key in a hole system. (Both shocks have a 2 year warranty)

Yeah i know... i'm a fussy GIT :angel

I hope i don't live to regret going the YSS route :Pray but intend on updating this thread (Good or bad) like a kind of 'on going review' of my experience using a YSS shock.

Perhaps a red 'shock sock' would do the trick? :D

lol :angel yep, guilty as charged - to make up for it I've got some interesting stuff coming up in the next couple of weeks - including a compression test, valve clearance shim replacement and a second follow up compression test to see if the shim change made any difference, plus a cheap but groovy inspection tool which I will wow you all with :angel

The shock came back Friday (finally) powder coated red as promised so i installed it this morning then not long after test road it... i have to say it rides as well as it looks.! :love Having already the rear now sprung to my weight and with decent damping now compliments the front.

You can dial in a lot of damping (if you wish) so the back comes up really slowly, i think i had it far to stiff at one point but it didn't half corner well :angel Not sure how the YSS compares to an Ohlins (I doubt that it does YSS being a budget shock) but compared to the white Showa that i purchased brand new from that Italian eBay seller, it's light years better! (No more pogo stick for me)

Jusst hope it lasts :Pray will update this thread after a few thousand miles or yearly and should anything fail.

Just a few pics.
