Some excellent footage on the TV news tonight.

My only quibble was that once the police car had successfully knocked the scrotes off their scooters the police driver braked heavily. Much more satisfying if they'd kept going and run over the downed riders.

Then reversed, just to make sure. :evil

An interesting historical perspective on the current London crime wave;

14th century London was also a violent place - most adult males were armed and a minor skuffle or disagreement could quickly turn into something more deadly.

FFS! They are asking for it - they prey on easy targets and the only thing they respect is brute force. :evil

She is an idiot.*

I suppose she also thinks that it is wrong for police marksmen to shoot armed criminals.

The principle here is exactly the same, force being met with force.

( * She and JC were an item once. :o :puke )

The caliber of people entering politics across all three main parties ain't what it used to be.

Letters page of this weeks MCN.

98% of bikers polled approve of the police action.

However, there was an astonishing letter from some limp wristed prat who didn't think that the police should be allowed to do this. Letter went on and on, but the jist of his ( or her ?) argument was that as the person on the 'ped hadn't been convicted of an offence the police had no right to knock them off and possibly injure them. Madness.

Takes me back to my example of what would happen if armed police were in pursuit of someone holding a firearm.

Hopefully MCN just printed the letter in the hopes of getting plenty of letters next week abusing the snowflake and supporting the police.

Yeah - if the suspect is refusing to stop or has been caught in the act then the Police are right to attempt to apprehend the individual - and in these circumstances a controlled 'tactical contact' is the only means available to them - pursuing them is pointless as they can easily lose a Police car by disappearing into congested London traffic or by diving into the maze of a nearby estate. Aggressive tactical contact is also a proportional response to the kind of crimes moped gangs are engaged in - which often involve physical intimidation and the use of weapons.

It doesn't take a legal genius to spot the difference between genuine abuse of Police power and the kind of tough but legitimate Police tactics required to deal with a situation which is clearly getting out of control.
