Hiya All,
I Just purchased a 1999 Hornet 600 and discovered that it has a 16" front wheel.
I'm looking for a 17" to bolt on. must be in good shape.
Cheers,
JS

Due to this common conversion / upgrade Hornet 17inch fronts can be rare and expensive. The vehicle breakers know this and treat like them like gold dust and charge accordingly! A lesser known option is to use a Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm front wheel which i believe is identical in design to the post 98/99 Hornet 17 inch wheels. (But you must use 2000+ Hornet discs not 98/99 or VTR discs)

Below is from thread

I fitted a VTR 1000 (Firestorm) front wheel, and my 16" wheel spacers and spindle were a direct swap.

Needed new disks, of course.

You might get luckier (and a better deal) by including VTR wheels when searching ebay ect...

There's one currently

Then you'll need a pair of discs from a 2000+ bike (£300 new or £120 second hand) because the discs on your 16 inch wheel will only fit a 98/99 16 inch wheel. (They changed the mount hole positions on 2000+ 17 inch wheels)

If buying secondhand find out the part numbers for Hornet 17 inch discs to confirm with the seller (sellers sometimes list will fit 98-2004 unaware of the mount hole change) you don't want to receive a pair of 98/99 discs which you already have!

All the best 8o

Thanks for the Tips Biggabit!
I found one and have ordered it.
While searching I also found a German thread on a fireblade which had the same 16" problem as the 98-99 hornet. They do the same conversion.
The best part was a list of what will work... (translation below)
"
-> CBR600F PC31 Bj.95-98, paßt komplett ohne Umbauten/Änderungen
(Bremsscheiben und Distanzen sind "gleich" mit denen der Blade!!)
-> VFR750 RC36 B Bj.94-97, paßt komplett ohne Umbauten/Änderungen
(Bremsscheiben und Distanzen sind "gleich" mit denen der Blade!!)
-> VTR1000 F SC36 Bj.97-06, paßt komplett ohne Umbauten/Änderungen (ist aber ein 3-Speichen-Rad!!)
(Bremsscheiben und Distanzen sind "gleich" mit denen der Blade!!)
-> CB600 PC34 Hornet ab Bj.2000, paßt komplett ohne Umbauten/Änderungen (ist aber ein 3-Speichen-Rad!!)

Pasted from <http://www.fireblade-forum.de/index.php?thread/32080-die-ultimative-17-auflistung/>

Loose Translation:
CB600f PC34, 2000+ fits without modification but you need the brake disks from the 17" (3-spoke wheel)
VFR750 RC36, Bj.94-97, fits without modification but you need the brake disks from the 17"
VTR1000 F SC36 Bj.97-06, fits without modification but you need the brake disks from the 17" (3-spoke wheel)
CBR600F PC31 Bj.95-98, fits without modification but you need the brake disks from the 17"

Cheers,
JS
