Hi All,

I am struggling on finding the right rotors and pads for my CB250F3 (2003)

Most of the sites say that the disks and pads are for 98-01. Is there any difference between the model years for rotors and pads?

Thanks!

The pads for the 1998 and 2003 CB250 Hornet have identical part numbers (06455-KEA-006) so the 98 - 01 pads will fit your 03 Hornet.

However the rotors for the 1998 and 2003 bikes have different part numbers so you will need to establish whether the 1998 rotors will fit the 2003 bike - (unfortunately I do not know if the earlier rotors are compatible with the later bikes wheel/caliper set up):

1998 rotors: 45120-KEA-003

2003 rotors: 45120-KFK-003

The link below shows the Honda parts catalogue with diagrams and part numbers for every model of Hornet CB250 produced between 1996 and 2007. I obtained the information above from this link - so If you are not sure if a part will fit your model year you can cross reference it against earlier/later models using this catalogue and purchase parts from here also.

There is a possibility that the 1998 bikes rotors will fit your 2003 bike perfectly in spite of the different part numbers - but obviously you need to verify whether this is the case before you purchase them.

Hi Hoon,

Thanks for the reply. I noticed the same thing with the part numbers. Oddly enough all the pads I find for sale only list compatibility with pre 2002 bikes, but I think it should be OK being that it's the same part number.

I have yet to get any feedback on the front rotor. Don't want to take the leap and order the wrong one. Unfortunately all the ones on aliexpress and taobao are for pre 2002.

I think I still have a bit of life left in my current setup, good thing I know how to downshift :rollin

No problem - good luck tracking down your new rotors. :D

Hopefully some of the guys on here with more knowledge on the 250 than me will be able to give you a definitive answer regarding the compatibility of the 98 rotors with the 03 bike.

Update: I was able to make out the part number on the existing front rotor. It is an Arashi DBS008WB. When I look up this part number it says compatible with the 96-01 hornet 250. So based on this, any 96-01 front rotor should fit the 02-07 models.

On the 600 models...

The rotors for a 98/99 bike (16 inch front wheel models) will not fit later 17inch wheel models (2000+) due to disc bolt to wheel alignment. (The holes don't line up) On my 99 (600) i'm cuuently running a 2006 wheel with 2003 discs.

Sorry... but no idea of interechangerbale parts and compatability with 250 models. :)

Thanks for the heads up mate. Luckily on the 250, its the same wheel for all model years. This part number also says it works with pre 2000 600's. You just order the right hand side. I'm missing my dual front disks :(

On a bright note, went for a 100KM ride today with a bunch of guys on 700-1200 CC street bikes and was able to hold my own. I am really impressed with this 250. I never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but the 250 hornet is a pleasure to ride. Especially when you wind her up to 12-14k on each shift :)

I had a hunch the 98 rotors would fit the later bikes - but you were absolutely right to verify part numbers before you went ahead.

It's surprising how many parts are transferable across bikes even when they are different makes and models - I once replaced a troublesome set of Tokico six pot calipers on a Kawasaki with a set of donor Nissin twin pots from a Suzuki based on advice I got on a forum - they fitted perfectly.

Regarding the 250 v larger bikes - It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog - form what I've heard the Hornet 250 has a lot of fight! :angel
