Hi,new to this forum and new to motorcycles. Can anyone help.I bought my first motorbike last summer.an 04 plate Honda hornet.now on the log book it says "f2".. I was lead to believe the f2 would relate to a 2002 year model.the reason I ask is when ordering parts one guy I spoke to said it seemed odd.will this be a problem.thanks for any advice.

Hi,
just look at your VIN. Digit no. 10 tells you the modell year, using the following scheme:

◾ Z 1979

◾ A 1980

◾ B 1981

◾ C 1982

◾ D 1983

◾ E 1984

◾ F 1985

◾ G 1986

◾ H 1987

◾ J 1988

◾ K 1989

◾ L 1990

◾ M 1991

◾ N 1992

◾ P 1993

◾ R 1994

◾ S 1995

◾ T 1996

◾ V 1997

◾ W 1998

◾ X 1999

◾ Y 2000

◾ ( 1 ) 2001

◾ ( 2 ) 2002

◾ ( 3 ) 2003

◾ ( 4 ) 2004

◾ ( 5 ) 2005

◾ ( 6 ) 2006

◾ ( 7 ) 2007

◾ ( 8 ) 2008

◾ ( 9 ) 2009

As this was posted in the 250 section, here is an overview of the Hornet 250 model year designations.
Frame and engine numbers can be used to determine your specific model.

Thanks for the response, I realise now I posted this on the 250 and not the 600 section of the forum.sorry ..bear with me I am just coming to terms with a smart phone...lol.I will check out the numbers tomorrow. Just the guy at the shop where I orders bits implied it was weird to have an 04 plate with a log book marked as an f2.
