So my existing rear end is both ugly and the previous owner have glued the indicatorns to the plastics (not very nicely done). The existing lamp (other than original) is just dangerous since its barely visible. I´d therefore like to change the rear to another one.

How about this one? Could it be fitted to my 2000 model?

Yeah - I'm sure you could fit the later tail unit to your bike - but keep in mind that the later tail sports a different shaped seat to yours (the part numbers are definitely different) - again your original seat might fit with or without a bit of adaptation but I can't give you a definitive answer because I haven't tried it (if you try the search facility on here it might throw up a past member who tried this mod).

In summary although it's doable I don't think this is a straightforward bolt on job because even if you swapped seats as well there is also a different shaped fuel tank and side panels up front that the new seat would have to fit into.

(edited for clarity :D )
