 Post subject: Pillion Pegs

I bought my F4 Hornet last year and the right OEM pillion peg was damaged. The rubber part of the peg was torn underneath which prevented the peg from being positioned upright and really annoyed me so I took them both off. From what I can tell the pillion pegs are very primitive. There is only a central bar through the middle and the rubber on the peg acts as a sort of "lock" to keep it down or up as it requires a bit of pressure to contract and move from one position to the other.

I bought a new set of aftermarket pillion pegs:

They look great and they fit correctly. However they have absolutely no spring or something to keep them in the upright position and this really annoys me when I'm riding on my own 95% of the time.

Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution for this? Is it possible to just buy the circular springs that the rider pegs use and retrofit this?

I'm presuming most aftermarket pegs are in a similar situation as the rubber 'locking' mechanism has to be very unique. As such I'm hoping this is a common issue. I know a lot of people like them removed but I quite like the look of the pillion pegs.
