got call from taff to come get the caliper hanger, still needs to get lightened and a bit more work done, but well happy with the result this far.

I have some S/steel bar to make a torque arm from, rose joint on order for the swing arm end.

Stainless steel. :Bang

I had some stainless strip left over from another project, and decided to use it to make some simple brackets, to attach K4 rear indicators to K7 frame.

A simple job, which would have taken a few minutes if I'd used mild steel. As it was, I destroyed countless new drill bits getting a couple of 8mm holes drilled, despite using plenty of cutting oil and slowish speed on the pillar drill.

Still, at least they won't go rusty. And then I painted them black ..

Had some spare time this afternoon after dropping Avril off to get the coach to Hull (going on Ferry trip to Amsterdam) so did a test fit on bike with everything tightened up and solid, to check all the spacing's of the wheel/disc/sprocket/chain were still correct.

looks to be good, will just need a spacer made that will be a press fit into the caliper hanger. Will also be asking Taff to machine some metal off the hanger to reduce the "stout" appearance of it.

Smile on my face this morning when i got my reply to the "agreed value" request application
with my insurers :)
they have said yes to my request and up'd my agreed value for theft or write off to 8K with the fitment of the new parts (forks, Carbs, Exhaust) without upping my premium.

wheels are now at the powder coaters,  rear caliper hanger is back with Taff to get slimmed down and some Flutes machined in.

new spacers being made.

Rose joint for the torque arm arrived today, soon as everything else is done i will get a torque arm made to fit.

i am going to need a new longer rear brake hose, might see what bits i have to make one up.

went round and picked up some of the bits that have been finished, got the new alloy wheel bearing spacer and the sprocket carrier

fresh from having a bit more metal removed from the sprocket seat.

but the best bit was getting to see the progress on the caliper hanger.

now been shaved of some weight, cross web slimmed down too.

going to get the channels cut tomorrow and some lightening to the spacer, make it more like an empty "cotton reel" than a piece of bar :)

when i first got the Racefit Exhaust system, John at Racefit told me to just clean it with WD40!!

well i was just a bit sceptical about that for advice, as i had never heard about cleaning things with it.

well as i was giving the bike a good clean up after the recent riding in the rain, i thought i would give

it a try, well all i can say is it works great, spray on, wipe off with a bit of old cloth.

result :)

Careful using WD40 on your exhaust you may end up with one of :Bad

when i broke down a short while ago (read- engine very nearly ate itself :( ) the very nice man from the AA did some tests, one of them was for a spark, his result was that i had a fairly weak spark, but as we now know, was not the cause of my misfortune at the time!!
well i have been on the look out for some Dyna Mini coils since being given the diagnosis from the AA.
yesterday i found some (inc leads and plug caps) being sold in the US on a F/B page for a very very reasonable price, i have asked the seller if he will ship to the UK, now waiting for a quote for shipping.
fingers crossed it will be all good :)

first bit of good news was that guy could get shipping from the US to me in the UK at a reasonable price

so i have sent the money and now am just waiting for the goods to arrive .

Image

second bit of good news was a text from Taff to say the last bits were done and ready for collection.

went straight after work, well pleased with the outcome, he has done another great job.

That's really nice.

How does he do it, lathe in the shed at home, or something fancier at work ?

Bit of both, he has a lathe, mill and cutter in his shed, but if job too big for them, then he takes to work
for required machines.

been away all weekend at a rally, so not done much on the bike but ride it lol.

when i got home this evening i set about fitting the caliper and hanger so i could do some measuring of what i need for the torque arm.

got a piece of 8mm alloy bar and cut it to length, bent it so i have wheel/tyre clearance.

going to get a piece of 12mm s/steel bar bent to the same shape as the alloy pattern.

think i might move the brake hose so it sits along the torque arm instead of going up over the  spindle as it does at the moment.

have been round to see Taff, taken the Torque arm pattern along with the bracket, rose joint and S/steel bar.
will be sorted very soon.
have also phoned the powder coater's, told them that i need the wheels sooner than i had made clear! told them that bike is in a show in two weeks, wheels have been blasted and will be coated soon :)
went on to the web and have ordered the ends for the brake hose, one 45 deg and one 90 deg, now i can have the hose running along the caliper and onto the torque arm.
once the wheel and disc are fitted i will see if i can mount the speed censer somewhere on the new caliper bracket to read
off the disc flanges.

got some bits turn up in the post today  first off was the Goodridge build-a -line hose ends.

did a test fit.

got two options, over or under caliper?

Image

Image

I am liking the under variant, will keep the hose nice and close to the caliper/torque arm/wing arms and tucked in.

Image

other bits were the coils all the way from the US, had to pop to the post office and pay the import first

did a test fit and all i can say is i likes it. looks just how i wanted with the hose at the bottom of the caliper and onto the torque arm.

just need to sort out the bolt fixture at the swing arm end and it is ready for fitment after the new wheels are back from powder and on the

bike  :)

I like that stainless torque arm, looks factory.

No worries about that brake line being a bit vulnerable down there ?
