bit of a test fit of bits to see what she looks like and how she stands, fits me like a glove when i am sat on her, suspesion gives nicely

and will sit lower once engine is in.

not going to need the fork extenders, so they will be coming off.

today i came up with a cunning plan, had the idea of swapping some of the rearset fixings around to see if i could get a better fit

on the frame, when i got the bits swapped over i found that i was going to have rearset/master cylinder to swing arm clearance problems, so it

was back to stock, play around with placement, and end up with a working but slightly less cunning plan.

tonight i will attempt a test fit to see if i like the foot placement where i have plans to fit them.

test fit of pegs went well, feel comfatable and in the right place for me to start with, only problem so far is gear change lever to side stand clearance issues.

That looks nice !

What capacity and compression ratio ?

Still confused about the apparent lack of cooling fins.

Richard, it is 1246cc, 82mm bores, 12-1 comp ratio.

i will be fitting an extra wide Main oil cooler, with a head cooler mounted on top of it, if there
is still a cooling problem, then i have the option of getting fins machined into the block.

Thanks for that, think I understand now.

I was beginning to think that the cylinder block fitted into a finned jacket.

and it is all going in a direction that i am very happy with, last night i did a second session on the peg fitment, i have concluded that the initial fitment of them is where they are going to live,  am going to have to move the side stand, i will cut it off and weld it back on where it is more tucked in and clear of the gear lever.

did the first test fit of the side pannels, they fitted better than i thought they were going to, as they seem to have warped slightly, having been sat in my hot shed in the summer. going to try warming them up with a hot air gun, see if they will adjust for better sit, if not i will add a very small screw at the bottom into the brece bar, to hold it in.

after fitting the rear light and good grab handle it became very obvious that something wasnt correct with alignment!  played around with it for a bit but couldnt get ti to sit correctly, swapped it for a second grab handle (that has split rubber so wasnt wanting to fit) and all fitted well, so looks like the "good" one is bent!

which leaves me with either trying to find a good condition straight handle, or attempting to bend the one i have without doing the rubber cover too much damage.

removed the side stand bracket, came off a lot easier than i thought it would, so bit of re shaping and grinding and it will be going back on but slightly forward and inward to give me the required clearance on the gear lever.

how she was before i pulled her apart to remove the side stand

after cutting the stand bracket off I cleaned it up, shaped it and removed the blob from the end of the stand foot, looks like we have lift off :)

bearing hood and locking nut fit just as planned, yokes sit on them great, will just need a 3mm thick spacer making for the stem nut to sit on once all is assembled.

grab handle i ordered from the US just turned up, looks to be spot on and has very little in the way of damage to the rubber.

looks to be straight, will do a test fit to double check, must have come from a hot part of the US though, as the bolts are still clean nickle plate, and all the black paint is intact with no rust showing anywhere   :love

cleaned up the new grab handle after doing a test fit to check it was straight,

all looks good, cleaned up well, just a few small marks.

thing i did find strange is whoever had it last has removed the front spacers? only thing i can think of is that they removed them so they could fit rack/panniers?

went down to Mick Gardner Racing in Barnsly on Saturday, had the spring removed from the shock so i can do a full sweep test on the rear end, also had the fork extenders removed as i dont now think they will be needed.

Had a good chat with Russ walton (workshop manager, great guy) whils i was waiting for the work to be done, showed me the shock Dyno at work, interesting bit of kit. going to try a slightly softer spring when i go back down to get the rear shock put back together, see how it feels.

Acrapovic headers turned up, looks to be in good condition, few small knocks but nothing you wouldnt expect from

a second hand system.

feels far to heavy for Ti, but not dissapointed with a s/steel system for the price. has definitly been shot blasted clean and looks

like it will clean up well.
