The tank paintwork is absolutely immaculate, it's not to everyone's taste I know but it's a shame to change it that's why I'm sticking to a similar theme.

After waiting over a month for a radiator to come from the land of the cheap and nasty I have now had my money refunded :mic
So on with something closer to hand.......

I wonder what could be in here?

Had some work planned for outside but the weather was raining as usual so spent it in the garage.
The previous day I had painted the frame in a couple of places, smoothrite black . I'm not happy with the finish as close up it looks like it's been done by a 4 year old!!
That said so on with bolting parts back on. Image
Swingarm, chain and side plates.
Image
Some would say this build is shock in!
Image
Another shock in picture...........so time for a rest 8o

................. A brake caliper or two!
Image
But what about the front? I hear you say..........
Image
I have decided to change the calipers for the black ones as these are in better shape than the gold ones. These came in a box of parts I paid £50 for.
Image
Not knowing which pads fit which disc I decided to re-face them.
This looks like emery cloth but is actually grip tape as it's sticky on one side. I stuck it to the worktop and sanded a couple of thousand miles off them I should think :p
Image
The top pad has been sanded and looks like a new pad now.
Image
Front end and calipers fitted.........
Image
And yes I know the front of the engine looks minging and I should of cleaned it before refitting everything else :Bang
Image
And with all that done I'm having a large sherry!

Thanks Bud.

I have ordered another new radiator from China, hopefully this one will turn up :Pray I have also ordered some new brake caliper bolts but in the meantime I decided to bleed the bleeding brakes. Whilst bleeding the brakes I noticed that the fluid that came back up to the master cylinder looked really manky!!
Image
Check out the dark area at the bottom. I decided to completely drain all the fluid and start again as it was just brown sludge at the bottom! ! The brake lever now feels firmer than a nob on viagra :eek
If you notice the gold handlebars they have seen better days as the anodizing has faded in places but it just so happens that I have another set of bars in my spares box.
Image
I wonder what is in the renthal bag?
Image
If you guessed it is another set of renthal bars then you are wrong! !
These are in fact a spare set of standard bars that came with a 59 plate 600 I bought a while ago.

Apparently this 600 has cbr600f3 carbs according to 370steve and whoever owned it before me had not connected up the choke cable as the carbs are missing a bracket!
Image
Check out the cable tie attached to the choke slider......well that's one way to get the choke on :lol
Had a look in my spares box and found this bracket...............
Image
It's a coil bracket........I attacked it 370steve style with a hacksaw, drill and a file.
Image
Bolted it on for a trial fit...........
Image
Image
Works a treat so just needs a lick of paint to finish.

The brake caliper bolts I ordered turned up or to put it another way......the m8 x 35mm flanged stainless bolts I ordered arrived :mic The original size bolts are m8 x 32mm so the new ones are a nats cock to big. Two options, grind/cut them down or use a washer to pack it out enough so it doesn't catch on the brake disc bobbins.
Image
Looks like someone has used longer bolts previously. New top of the range bolts were £3.55 for 10 delivered ..........always handy to have a few extra!
Image
Image
Rear caliper bolted up, toying with changing the brake line for a braided item if I can be bothered.

Todays progress..............
Image
Although I wanted to do the brickwork I had to get a brickie to do it as I just don't get enough time off these days.....it took him 3 weeks!! Had one excuse after another and when he did turn up he never put a full shift in :mic but at least I got a price for the full job rather than a hourly/day rate. There's quite a few bricks left over so I will attempt building a barbecue in the spring. The rest of it should be up this week, I'm only helping someone else fit it were I can. But i will install the electrics and tile the floor. Been quoted £100 for a sparky to check the electrics and sign it off :eek £100 to check 3 double sockets and a fused switch for the light! There's a money making scheme if ever I heard one. I will get another quote me thinks! We got the conservatory for free off some friends of ours that decided they wanted a big extension, so we are trying to keep the costs down as...... A. it's pointless spending lots of money when it's not new and...... B. I'm a tight git :lol

It's mad. We are allowed to mess about with our motorcycles to our hearts content, just subject to an annual MOT test.

And yet the pencil pushers expect us to have someone check that what is effectively a 3 pin plug is wired correctly, only allow a FENSA member to install a window, or a CORGI fitter to move a few gas pipes.

Ball cocks to the lot of 'em, I say. Never had problem with any of the above yet. :fried

Don't get me started on so called tradesmen!! In my experience they have done a crap job, don't arrive on time or don't turn up at all, they don't listen to what you want, Bullshit you with excuses and some want good money for very little work.........but apart from that they are ok :lol

Had a busy day today. Started early running around for some bits for the conservatory then went to work, finished work and came home to wire the conservatory electrics up. On the bike project side I had a delivery of my new radiator, first impressions are it looks spot on.

Only £58 from china........let's hope it fits ok.

Been doing a little bit more but not not as many pictures as I don't seem to get the free time to fart these days :eek it's a good job I don't need much sleep :mic
Bars, levers, switchgear etc fitted. Also picked up a standard rear tail piece in silver for £25

Image
Image
Image
Image
I'm not sure if it's going to look ok with the standard silver on the rear with the paint job on the tank. I think I will buy some blue vinyl that matches the blue stripes and see how it looks instead of splashing out on painted stripes. I need to get a grabrail and think I will get it powder coated in gloss black..........Probably :p

Had my delivery from the farterland........
Image
Stripped off the old seat cover and stapled the new one on, had a lot of trouble with the stapler which didn't seem strong enough to pierce the plastic seat base :Bang bought some upholstery pins / tacks which just bent over as soon as you tapped them in :Bang
Image
Image
As this is my first seat recover I think it will do.

A quick trial fit on the bike.......

There's a couple of area's that could be smoothed better but hopefully when my fat farter gets on it, it will iron them out!
And for £12 I think.............

Did a little bit to the bike today, fitted the fan to the radiator. I had given it a lick of paint the other night ........
Image
The fan fits the Chinese £58 radiator a treat. I fitted the rad to the bike but first I gave it an oil change and fitted the downpipes as with the rad removed it made life a little easier.
