Hi,

The fuel cap has always been a little sticky on my Hornet. Now the key locking mechanism has completely seized and has damaged the key!

I have tried wd40 but no good - it really isn't going to budge on the key.

Any advice on how to remove the fuel cap without the key so that I can replace it?

Thanks for any help!
Jim

FIXED!

It was actually quite easy....

I simply filled up the key hole with Chain Lube along with the wd40 that was already in there, got a big flat-headed screwdriver in there and simply twisted clockwise till it turned the barrel and opened the cap!

The lock is buggered, but I'd bought a replacement anyway.

Well done M8 :clap

I did read your post but wasn't sure what to advise... i don't think you'd have appreciated a 'visit a locksmith' suggestion. :)

WD40 apparently just clogs things up once its dries and goes gummy.

graphite powder is what you wanna use....you can buy it or scrape bits off a pencil lead into the lock barrell.
