It's about time for some new brake pads for my 2006 599.
Does anyone know what type came standard? Are they organic, semi sintered, or sintered?
What do you recommend as far as type?
Thanks in advance?

Honda OEM are best all round pads, but if you want better then CBR600F3 pads which are HH rated.
but i have never had any probs with EBC pads

A set of EBC sintered or semi-sintered brake pads will both do a great job of stopping your Hornet.

The attached article below is a good general guide to motorcycle brake pads and explains the differences between sintered, semi-sintered and organic brake pads.

Personally I would have no problem going for the compromise semi-sintered option for general street use.

That's interesting, learned something new.

I 'knew' that the original Hornet pads were not up to scratch, and that they were uprated when the 17" front wheel arrived. I just assumed that the later pads were the same as the CBR ones, but a quick check on David Silvers site shows different part numbers. I think I'll try the CBR pads next time I need a set, they are the same price as the Hornet ones. I believe that both are sintered pads.

This has got me thinking now, wonder what pads Triumph used in the Street Triple calipers that are a direct swap for the Hornet ones ( twin pot sliding calipers both ).

EBC - I had a set, they worked well but were noticeably noisier than the OEM Honda pads, and I have heard stories that they wear the disks quicker.

EDIT Just looked at the EBC web site. On that, they list same pads for the Hornet and Street Triple (FA226HH), diferent ones for the CBR (FA296HH).
