I bought a 900 hornet yesterday and the rev counter isn't working. When you turn on the ignition both needles move. But the rev counter doesn't show any revs and the speedo is showing 10mph less than what I'm actually doing (My mate was at the side of me several times and we checked).

Please help it's frying my head.

Sounds like it's probably a poor electrical connection.

Best to work through the problem methodically starting with the most simple solution first.

Unclip the blocks connecting the clocks to the loom and inspect and clean the male/female connectors with contact cleaner.

If this doesn't sort the problem check the condition of the looms earth connection to the frame (on my old 600 it's where the reg/rect bolts to the frame) - unbolt and clean up with electrical contact cleaner.
